Great value for price August 31, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this bike last November in hopes of stopping the rapid upward crawl of weight gain while recovering from a nasty case of plantar fasciitis. Since walking is by far my favorite form of exercise, I wanted something inexpensive and portable that I could easily move out of the way once my foot recovered enough to use the treadmill again. I also like the semi-recumbent feature--full recumbent bikes hurt my knees and upright ones hurt my back. This one is a nice compromise. It doesn't bother my back at all, and I can ride it for well over an hour before one of my knees starts to balk. It is also small enough that I've been able to relocate it to the living room now that my treadmill is unfolded back to its rightful place. Ironically, I'm probably getting more use out of the bike now as a cross-training machine than I did when I first bought it as a temporary treadmill replacement!
As others have pointed out, the bike is very quiet and a great piece of equipment for turning TV time into active time. I love the fact the distance/time/calorie monitor is cumulative. That makes it very easy to keep track with how much total exercise you've done for those of us who like to split it up into multiple sessions a day.
That said, nothing is perfect. A couple of small improvements would be great:
1. Like others mentioned, the seat post adjustment could use one more hole for us long-legged folks. I'm 5'10", and in order to make the bike more comfortable for my knees, I placed a small throw-pillow on the seat. This has the added benefit of adding more cushion as well, but it would still be nice if the bike came with the proper seat adjustment out of the box.
2. The time continues accumulating for a few seconds after you stop peddling. For us multi-session exercisers, it would be great if the clock stopped immediately with the pedals. Also, the calorie counter seems to be rather "optimistic".
Great bike August 26, 2008 It's a great little bike, we love how quiet it is. You can actually hear other people talking to you or the tv while you workout. It folds up easily and is easy to move and/or store. The only complaint is that you can't change the resistance very much.
Wonderful August 24, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Well, I have found it to be a wonderful addition to my living room. It hardly takes any space whatsoever and it was extreamly easy to put together. I managed it in less than half an hour with my three year old boy "helping" and the baby running over my toes in her walker. My only suggestion is to buy the mat to put it on if you have hard floors like I do just to keep from accidently scratching them up. It is really quiet too I can get on it without having to change the volume of the television at all. I would buy it again in a heartbeat.
Love This Bike August 24, 2008 I was prepared to spend $450 for the Schwinn 230. It was comfortable, highly rated, and had all the features I wanted but it had a big footprint. I came across the Stamina Intone and was intrigued by the cost, design, and high ratings. My hesitation was whether it would be comfortable given its semi-recumbent design. I'm 5'6 and NOT small framed and uprights hurt something aweful to me. Now that I have the Intone I am so happy that I saved the extra $300 and the floor space. This bike does everything I need it to do. Because it's so small it sits right by the TV and I hop on at all times of the day and night. Tracking progress is great as it turns on when you start peddling and off when you stop. It took me about 30 minutes to put it together - no additional tools needed. The pre-drilled holes matched perfectly and quality seems great. The only issue I had was the bike made a noise when I first got on it and started peddling. I played with the tension and kept peddling and it stopped. It hasn't happened since. I LOVE THIS BIKE! Don't hesitate to buy it. You'll save money and won't be disappointed.
good bike for good price August 18, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This bike was a good buy for me. I was looking for something to use for crosstraining that I could do at home. We get alot of rain where I live so i wanted a piece of home equipment. It was very easy to put together and pretty comfortable to use. If you don't need a lot of bells and whistles then I think it's a good deal. it's also pretty easy to move around and the folding feature is nice.
