3 out of 5 stars Poor Shipping but Good product   October 5, 2007

This product came to me in what could only be called a package. The box was very much destroyed. But the product itself was very strong to hold up this beating. The product was simple to put together, and has been very enjoyable. The variety of programs allows for a more variabled workout.

4 out of 5 stars Quiet unit, though a little on the large side for a short rider   September 22, 2007

Unit came by UPS 2nd day air so it was in great shape; no holes, or any sign of abuse. Assembly took about 2 hours from point of unpacking till plugging it in. It's a little on the large size for someone who is of short stature. My mother who is just 5'1"" needs to slide the chair all the way forward and it's still not enough. But I was able to drill an additional seat position hole by removing the rubber bumpstop from the bottom so the seat rail could slide forward another centimeter or two. This helped her out a lot, so short riders you might want to do the same.

16 different resistance levels gives one a lot of flexibility. Higher resistance levels are indeed plenty tough -- and I'm a Category 4 bike rider so I can attest to this. Lower resistance levels will of course give one a great cardio workout. Riding is near dead silent -- this is one super quiet unit.

LCD screen looks very 1980ish and frankly I wouldn't have mind spending a few dozen more dollars on getting a better quality screen. No backlight so it's a little hard to see. No major impairement in any case.

Personally, although I've never been a fan of a 'bent, I believe these units are superior to indoor training. Indoor use is always boring so one will want to be watching TV or reading when on the unit. 'Bents are just more comfortable for these tasks since you can lean back.

4 out of 5 stars Great exerciser! Shipping is another story...   September 21, 2007

I have had the Schwinn 203 Recumbent Exercise Bike for a few weeks now. It is great. I put it in the den where my husband and son sometimes hang out and watch a tv show. The bike is in the back corner and every now and then they turn around to see if I am still riding! It is quiet- like silent!

I ran through the manual quickly and jumped on. The computer is great, not too many options and not too few, it's easy. I find that I am easily able to use it daily and have a really good workout. In just these few weeks I am finding that I am more toned, less tired in the evening and my fitness level has already increased. (there's a program to measure that too.)

The only problem I had was the Supersaver shipping delivered via UPS an unusable, beaten, broken open box, therefore, I refused the shipment. I actually called my local Schwinn dealer who was having a sale for the same price. I did have to pay tax, but they assembled, delivered and offered future help, if needed. Shipping would have been fine if the box was much sturdier. Customer service at Amazon was top-notch giving me an option to reship or refund immediately. I would definitely buy again from Amazon, but really consider the shipping options for a large, bulky item.

5 out of 5 stars Great Value   September 14, 2007

Schwinn 203 Recumbent Exercise Bike The bike is great -- quiet, stable, simple to operate. Amazing that it arrived unharmed as the box, packing, etc., was completely destroyed, so it must be a very strong product. Assembly was a bit complicated, but time and patience had it done in an evening. Pulse rate does not compute, but that's the only thing wrong with the bike. As a side note, I ordered some scenic bike ride DVD's of California, Oregon, Washington, and Europe, and my ride is now pure pleasure.

This bike is very sturdy and compact. As I am just under 5 ft, I needed to be sure that I could get the seat closeup enough so my feet would comfortably reach the pedals. It's a great fit for me but also for my nephew who is 6'4". Computerized readout panel is easy to read. This is an excellent product for a most reasonable price.
