1 out of 5 stars Has many flaws   December 31, 2007

I'm afraid we have to agree with Bob F. There is no way to keep the bar from rotating during use. In fact, we tightened it so much in the attempt to keep it from rotating that we stripped the threads.

Also, this will only fit a 26" door WITHOUT THE BRACKETS. Our door is 27.5 inches, and only after we put up the brackets did we realize that we could not shorten the bar enough to actually fit it in. So we ended up snipping some of the metal off of one of the brackets in order to be able to get the bar in. I'd love to return this, but since we have manhandled it so in an effort to make it useful I'm not sure they'll take it. I also have drill holes in my doorframe now.

I am so tired of poorly designed/made products. Are there any companies left that take pride in their workmanship?

4 out of 5 stars Good Bar, but a piece of advice   December 30, 2007

Overall, this bar worked out really well. The cushion grip is great. However, I must note that you cannot have the bar stay inbetween the doorway without either buying some extra-strength double-sided tape OR actually drilling three holes into the door with the metal cups/brackets for the ends of the bar to fit into. There may be other bars out there where you don't have to go through this.

2 out of 5 stars Lacks stability   November 6, 2007

Looks good, installs fine, but darn near impossible to tension the bar sufficient to keep it from rotating when used. Bought this for my budding gymnast daughter, but it's such a pain to put up and tighten that we're just not using it. YMMV

4 out of 5 stars chin-up bar   November 1, 2007

Great product. Installs easily. I had hoped I could just use it as a tension bar, but ended up needing to install the brackets as it tended to slip without them. I was unable to move the foam padding to the center; it's far too snug and will not budge.

4 out of 5 stars Good and Cheap Pull-Up Bar   October 21, 2007

This pull-up bar works perfectly. However, you must use it with the wall brackets included. Otherwise, it is dangerous. I discarded the screws provided and used Tapcon screws instead. It made the installation easier. For the price, you cannot ask for more.
