Actually 5 pounds, and not very good, at that. August 6, 2008 First off, these are NOT 10-pound dumbbells as the description suggests. They are a pair of 5-pound dumbbells, 10 pounds in total. Second, though polyvinyl chloride can take many forms, if you think "vinyl-coated" would mean "covered in a soft, rubbery, grippy plastic substance, like I would want in a weight" you would be wrong in this case. These are coated in a hard, slippery plastic. Finally they're round, meaning the roll away from you.
The color is nice, and so is the price, but even putting the 5-pound/10-pound thing aside, these are probably the worst pair of weights I have ever encountered. I would suggest you look elsewhere.
Also, for anyone else wishing Amazon listed country of origin in their item specs, these are made in Taiwan.
Five pounds each weight May 10, 2008 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
The Everlast for Her is advertised as being 10lb. 10lb weights is what I wanted so I ordered. They came I was very happy until I opened the box to find that this item is a 10lb set. Meaning that each dumbbell is 5lb, two comes for a set making it a 10lb set. Needless to say I am very disappointed.
Little color...tons of motivation ! April 24, 2008 So I have started working out at home and starting to stock up on all the essential equipment. I bought these mainly because they were cheaper than the boring black ones and looked nice. Trust me, I'm not a very girlie girl but I cannot help feeling motivated about using these. The biggest plus for me is the sleek design and rounded ends, which makes it easier to use with cardio/kickboxing/dance workouts. You wouldn't be using 5 lb dumbells for bulking up anyways. So for great toning and strength training get these, a couple of ankle weights and you're all set for cardio routines. On days when I need to increase resistance I prefer putting on weighted gloves and then using these sleek dumbells rather than upgrading to heavier ones. It gives me more control. Highly recommend !!
