Be careful - they break very easily June 29, 2008 I was happy with these at first. Then I dropped one of the barbells a short distance (about 2 feet) while working out and one of the plastic pieces that hold one of the plates broke. Now the barbells are basically useless as I can't put them
on many of the weight settings. Sadly, I'm going to throw them out and buy traditional dumbbells. Bowflex should use stronger materials.
Wish I could give 0 stars June 19, 2008 I was excited to receive these, but within 6 months they were not working well. They do not always pick up all the weights that I adjust them for and occasionally some of the weights slip out after I pick them up. These have been a complete disappointment. I understand, from a personal trainer friend, that the only benefit of these is the brand name - there are a couple of non-Bowflex products that are very similar, cost less and perform better. My discussions with Bowflex for customer service have been completely unproductive. If I could rate these as a zero, I would happily do so.
Everything I hoped for May 24, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
These dumbbells are perfect for the small space we have. The video included is very helpful and emphasizes proper form and technique. It's really nice being able to get in a good workout at home instead of battling the morning gym crowd.
Excellent Set May 22, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
excellent set of bells. great spacesavers, and very nice for a home gym with users ranging from young teenagers to older teenagers to mom and dad. Very versatile, enable a whole range of exercises.
My have a fix for falling plates... May 16, 2008 Let me start by saying I loved them at first but then...the plates started to fall out. I have never dropped them or clanked them together. Then one day when I was working out a plate fell out almost hit my foot. Not sure if this has been posted yet but...Today I was looking for a way to tighten them to prevent them from falling out. So far so good hope that it keeps them from falling out!! What I did was tight the 3/4 bolts on both ends of the dumbbells. You will need two ratchets and two 3/4 sockets. First remove the bowflex stickers on each end of your dumbbells with your fingernails to get to the bolts. Then tighten...if one end needs to be tightend more then the other then hold one side still while tighting the looser end. Make sure not to over tighten other wise you will not be able to turn the dials. I am in no way an expert so do this at your own risk and I dont guarantee that this will fix your problem but it seems to have fix mine so far. Im still very carefull when I use them. Hope this helps some of you with the same problem.
Other than that...Im glad to see they finally came out with a pair that goes up to 90lbs. cause the 50lbs. was not enough. Im still going to sell mine even though they seem to be working fine now. Im going to get powerblocks that go up to 130lbs.
