About Mio The story of Mio began in 1999 when it was created by entrepreneur and mother of three, Liz Dickinson. Like many of us, Liz balances family and career, leaving little time for fitness. After several unsuccessful attempts to achieve her fitness goals and shed the pregnancy weight-gain of her third child, Liz turned to a personal trainer for advice. While working with a trainer, Liz realized the key to getting in shape and staying in shape is to practice smart eating habits, monitoring calorie intake, and using a heart rate monitor to ensure that she exercises at the right level. Liz realized there wasn't a product available on the market that would easily help her follow her trainer's advice. Liz didn't have time to read labels and carry a calorie journal in her purse, nor did she have much patience for the uncomfortable chest strap she had to wear to get her heart rate. She knew there had to be a better way, so Liz used her technology and marketing savvy to create Mio, the world's first heart rate monitor to work without a chest strap. And, it didn't stop with just heart rate, as Mio also has a patented calorie management system that offers a straightforward approach to managing your diet. With the help of Mio and a balanced diet, Liz was able to shed those unwanted pounds and gain the benefits that come with improved fitness: more energy, more vitality, and less stress, and help many others do the same with the creation of Mio's products.

dead product July 30, 2008 The product came DOD ( dead on delivery). Looks like nobody's checking a product before shipping. Will return it back for refund. Very unhappy :((((
Two is a charm June 13, 2008 i read the reviews on here and was a bit skeptical about people having problems....for a while, anyway. i usually get lucky, so i figured....why not? well, i did not get too lucky. After the first week the finger touch monitoring worked about once every 20x and the chest strap was useless.
needless to say, i sent it back to amazon....awesome. . they sent me a new one before i even got the old one back. the new watch has been absolutely perfect. no problems whatsoever, and absolutely accurate. if you like the features, give it a shot, you can always get a hassle free replacement if there is an issue!
Works as promised May 7, 2008 I purchased this model because I like the flexibility of being able to check my heart rate with or without the chest strap. I use it before getting out of bed to check my resting heart rate. It comes with a chest strap that has a user replaceable battery using a standard CR2032 battery.
The reason for only four stars is that it took three tries, first through an ebay seller that would time out most of the time, then the first one purchased from Amazon was dead, before getting one that works out of the box. Amazon customer service is great though. They advanced replaced it without billing my credit card a second time. Amazon also provided a refund for a recent price reduction. Finally, I also wished they included some of the weight management features like on the new Motiva, Drive and Breeze models.
Do not reccomend April 6, 2007 11 out of 13 found this review helpful
It simply does not work consistantly. It will just annoy you. The readings; if you get one, will sometimes be 200+. This would mean your heart is going to explode at any second. It will then throw off the averages of you workout and render readings calculated useless. It does work well when resting or lower readings, but that is not why I need it. I tried two and had the same result for both. I still use it, but it just for the basic functions (i.e stopwatch). I contacted Mio (not where I bought it) and got advice from the Tech. that didn't work or apply.
Very Poor on performance and service August 17, 2006 9 out of 11 found this review helpful
The watch is not accurate at all. Most of the time, when using a strap it doubles my heart rate.
I called customer service twice and have sent two emails - there is no response.
I do not recommend this product or company.
