| Customer Reviews:
overpriced April 2, 2008 The Good:
- Small
= I was able to use this while working at my workstation configured for standing
- I was able to use this while playing video games
The Bad:
- While most of the stepper is well made, one of its key parts is made of plastic
-- Because of this and the heat generated by exercising, you cannot theoritically use this device for more than 15 min without it breaking (a sticker on the stepper itself states this - probably for legal reasons)
-- Being able to use a exercise device for only 15 min is ridiculous
-- $100 for a 15 min exercise stepper is stupid

Wish I had bothered to read the other review before purchasing this product from a Brookstone store.
I love the workout I get from the stepper, so imagine my disappointment when it started to squeak, and not just a little bit, but to the point where it was impossible to use. The store recommended I use WD40 but that didn't help at all. Keeping in mind I weigh less than 120 lbs and used it for less than 15 minutes at a time (the box says not to use it for more than 20 minutes at a time).
Unfortunately when I returned it, it was just outside of the 30 day warranty so I couldn't get a refund, but the store did replace it for me. I know I am basically stuck with this thing so I try not to use it for more than 5 minutes at a time and get off as soon as it squeaks even a little bit, and there is WD40 in ever nook and cranny. Still squeaks, but it's not unbearable. It's pretty useless to me now though, since I only get to use it a couple of times a day, and by the time it starts squeaking I haven't even worked up a sweat, so not sure it's doing me any good anymore.
I'm giving this product 2 stars because if it didn't break so easily it would be great.
Inferior Product & Poor Customer Service May 6, 2007 14 out of 14 found this review helpful
The ball joint that connects the shock and the frame is made of plastic. This is a vital part; it supports the user's weight, controls the swivel action and stabilizes the tension on the shock.
Mine BROKE AFTER ONLY ONE WEEK OF USE. Obviously breaking while in use, the incident caused me to fall. Also, one of the resistance cords for toning your arms and upper body snapped the second time I used the machine.
I bought this device from the Brookstone store at Rockefeller Plaza in NYC. They would not give me a refund or even exchange the device for a new one because I had not purchased the $15 warranty, which I don't remember being offered to me at my time of purchase.
