Amazon.com Product Description
Set up your home gym with the sturdy Marcy MWB-848 mid-sized bench, which provides a comfortable base for a full-body strength workout (weights sold separately). The 40-inch crutch width accommodated both 6- and 7-foot bars and it provides decline, flat, incline and military pressing positions. It also features a dual-action leg developer with six cushioned roller pads and a pivot point that correctly aligns with your knee joints for better biomechanics. Other features include a chrome sliding track and pop pin for easy back and seat pad angle adjustments, 3-inch round heavy duty steel frame, high-density upholstery, and an arm curl pad.

About Utility Benches
Despite the competition from trendy new fitness inventions, free-weight lifting continues to be a popular option for home strength training. Free weights offer a special benefit in strength training because they promote quicker strength gains. Free weights also work a larger number of muscles than resistance machines, which tend to focus on isolated muscles. Specially-designed adjustable pads, grips, and bars help limit and guide movements to minimize the possibility of muscle or joint damage. Plus, from a single utility bench, a vast number of exercises can be performed. Whether it is focusing on the abdomen, arms, chest, or any other muscle group, a utility bench can help you maximize your strength training goals while minimizing your risk of personal injury.

5 out of 5 stars Great Workout Bench   August 23, 2007

This weight bench was easy to put together despite that the illustrations in the instruction booklet were too little to see. The bench is small and doesn't take up much room but is very strong & sturdy. You can get as good of a workout as at the gym.

4 out of 5 stars High quality bench and barbell rack   July 15, 2007
4 out of 4 found this review helpful

This is a sturdy, well-constructed bench. It is not flimsy and creaky like most home gym benches. Leg curls and leg extensions feel more like gym-quality exercises than they do on most home gym benches. The weight rack is also sturdy and stable and can accommodate an Olympic bar. I really like how the bench is separate from the weight rack. You can move the bench away from the rack to do dumbbell exercises so that the rack doesn't get in the way. My only complaint is that the bench does not raise to a military press (full upright) position as advertised. The bench can be adjusted from a decline position to flat to around a 45 degree incline.
