Overall design is horrible. Velco strap is too short and wears out very fast. Padding is in the wrong spot. October 29, 2008 I do 90lb single leg thigh ab/aduction and the velcro no longer has purchase after 4 days of use. Not only did the velcro give after 4 day (8 times taken off), the padding placement isn't even in the right place to offer coushion.
I would say around 30lb reps would be a safe weight this strap can support for more than 4 days...
Don't buy as a replacement for a Totalgym Foot Harness September 11, 2008 I purchased the Altus Athletic ANPAS Nylon Ankle Strap bacause I thought it would be easier to attach and softer on my ankle than the foot harness that came with my Totalgym.
This Altus strap failed in just the first few uses (like the third). It came undone from my leg while I was using it to exercise. Luckily I didn't get hurt.
Don't make this mistake if you want it for the Totalgym.
Meets the needs of a casual exerciser August 5, 2008 I'm pretty happy with this product. I purchased it to use in conjunction with my Weider Total Body Works 5000 (i.e. a more economical version of Total Gym). The two products work great together; it stands to reason that the Altus ankle straps would work great with similar machines. The straps are pretty comfortable (no fabric burn or anything like that), but there are a few problems: 1) The semi-circular ring slides out of place frequently and 2) Once in a while, the Velcro will fail on you causing you to slid off the machine - sometimes head first with too much momentum into the wall/floor :*( The first issue isn't a big deal as it doesn't effect safe operation, but I'd imagine that the second issue could pose a problem if both straps failed while you were inverted or something... If you're going to be using more than your body weight, I'd suggest getting something a little more sturdy and safe, but if you're just a beginner/casual exerciser like I am, you'll like the Altus straps - I think they'll meet your needs. Decent quality and very good price!
Works July 5, 2008 I use this for Glute Kicks and have never had a problem with the velcro or D ring. Good product, great price.
Strap design April 8, 2008 The product design does not have a welded D ring. The D ring can pull out during use. I purchased and tried to use and did not find it as a replacement for my Total Gym clone. The d ring opene during use and ws propelled several feet.
