Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Sturdy, useful, nice-looking bag! Plenty large: Recommended!   February 18, 2007

The construction is excellent: It's made from a very sturdy cotton canvas material that is going to last forever, but is still pleasantly soft. The stitching is surprisingly well-done, with no exposed edges anywhere to fray or pull. (On my black bag, the stitching is a cool contrasting white.) The strap is very rugged, of the same nice fabric: plus there is enough extra strap for it to double-over the whole length of the bag. It feels very nice on your shoulder. Good-sized zip-pocket on the outside will hold all your normal keys, wallet, phone, etc.

The detailing is really nice: all the buckles, zippers and other details are a solid metal that is finished like aged brass. The only logo on it is cool, but is hidden way down at the bottom so you don't notice it if you don't like such things. A couple notes though, for Drishti to improve: the pull-strings have these neat metal pieces at the ends, which are very attractive. However, at the default length of the strings, when the bag is closed and you swing it over your shoulder, they whip around and hit you in the head. Buyers should take them off and either shorten the strings or just leave them off. (Be sure to re-knot the strings.) Drishti should shorten the strings and/or remove these. Second, the clamp to hold the bag closed looks really nice but is a touch weak. The bag won't fall open, but doesn't stay shut quite as snugly as I would like.

Size: I have a 3/8-inch mat, which is a mat of above-average thickness. (Average seems to be 1/4 inch, with some people even liking the skinny 1/8 inch ones. ) My mat has room to spare in the bag, leaving room for a towel, even light workout clothes, but not so much that it rolls around. So, the reviewer complaining that it's not big enough for an Airex Coronella (an unfortunately thick mat, from my perspective, at 5/8 inch), is sort of like complaining that a Mini Cooper isn't a big enough car for a sumo wrestler. For comparison, some makers call a 1/4-inch thick mat "ultra-thick", so 5/8 is more than double the size of "ultra thick". If you're going to buy an extra-large mat, you simply need an extra large bag, and this product isn't billed as such. Drishti could , however, do themselves and their customers a favor here by specifying a 'recommended' maximum mat size for it. I would think mats up to 1/2 inch would fit nicely without needing to fuss.

Over all, a great value. Not super-cheap, but a huge improvement on the standard mass-produced junk one generally sees even at this price-point any more. I'm very happy with it, and it seems like it'll last forever. And it even looks 'cool-but-not-trying-hard'.

1 out of 5 stars Does not fit AIREX Coronella mat !!!   August 31, 2006

I purchased this yoga mat bag to hold an AIREX Coronella mat. However, the rolled up mat was too large to fit in this Yoga mat bag (unless you were to take 20-30 minutes squeezing and pushing to get it in). Don't buy this mat bag unless you plan on only using a thin yoga mat.

5 out of 5 stars A great bag for your mat.   June 25, 2006
I like this mat bag a lot! I ordered it for my really thick mat, and it fits just perfectly, with room to spare. Mats of almost any size will fit nicely into this bag. The bag is also sturdy, so I know it will last a long while. I like the color, too. I'm going to order this bag for a couple of friends of mine because I like it so much.
