Durable, comfortable, and no-slips October 13, 2008
The Black Mat from Manduka is indispensible for my practice. I absolutely love it. I've had it for two years, and I can't think of a bad thing to say about it. It was expensive compared to a "throw-away" mat, but since I practice 4-5 times a week, I would have gone through about 4 sticky mats in the same time period. This mat will be with me for as long as I'm practicing yoga. It gives a great grip underfoot, is solid enough to practice balancing poses like Ardha Chandrasana, and it gives enough cushion for supine positions. I haven't tried the eKo mat, but I don't know that I'll ever need to - the Black Mat is awesome.

The mat provides excellent padding for your knees. I would recommend one of the Manduka micro fiber towels to go with it. A winning combination.

The very best yoga mat imaginable-- indestructable-- with adequate protection for knees, elbows, and head. Extra length is great for taller people.

A friend of mine teaches yoga, and he recommended this mat. I am new to Yoga, but I am very happy with the manduka mat. Another friend of mine bought a different mat and told me mine is thicker, and could see where mine was better, and worth the extra money.
Outstanding Yoga Mat July 29, 2008
Manduka mat is 85" long and it offers plenty of "real estate" for my 6'1" height. Mat offers excellent support and very high coefficient of friction that results in much more stability while doing asanas. At first it was slippery under sweaty hands and after I left it for a day outside on the hot Georgia sun, most of slippery surface is gone. I would recommend this mat to anybody serious about Yoga and I would buy it again if I ever needed to.
