Amazon.com Product Description
Enjoy a vigorous workout in the comfort of your own home with the Horizon Fitness T81 treadmill. The T81 is built around a durable 2.0-horsepower continuous-duty motor, similar to the type found in premium health clubs. The result is a smooth and powerful performance at all speeds, with the ability to run quieter and longer while generating plenty of power for a long workout. The T81 is no slouch from a feature perspective, either, with eight workout programs to help you focus on your goals, a speed range of 0.5 to 10 miles per hour, an elevation range of 0 to 10 percent, and ComfortZone air cell cushioning on the two-ply treadbelt that makes every step feel remarkably comfortable.

The Horizon control console, meanwhile, emphasizes simplicity, with logical control locations and a 2.4-by-3.1-inch orange backlit LCD screen that offers key feedback on your workout. The T81 is also easy to store thanks to Horizon's exclusive FeatherLight lift, which incorporates two hydraulic shocks to assist you when raising and lowering the deck. Other details include contact heart rate grips, a built-in cooling fan, and a 20-by-50-inch running area.

About Treadmills
Walking is still considered one of the most beneficial cardiovascular exercises for people of all ages, body types, and fitness levels. As a fundamental form of aerobic training, walking has numerous physical benefits for the heart, lungs, and circulatory system, while also increasing muscle tone and burning fat calories. Treadmills provide a convenient way to regularly exercise in all weather conditions in the comfort and safety of your own home.

From beginners just starting an exercise regimen to advanced athletes looking to maintain their fitness level, anyone interested in getting and staying in shape can benefit greatly from regular use of a treadmill. Treadmills allow you to determine the pace, distance, and complexity of the workout based on your needs, all while watching television, talking on the telephone, or reading a magazine. Much easier on sensitive joints like the knees and hips, treadmill walking and running surfaces are typically long, padded platforms that allow ample room for a long stride and comfortable, low-impact walk or jog without the harsh contact of a concrete surface.

While many different types, styles, and price ranges of treadmills exist, many of them offer unique features like a fold-up design for easy storage, an electronic display monitor showing speed, distance, workout time, incline level, and burned calories, and EKG grip pulses to monitor the heart rate while exercising. Regardless of the simple to complex features you may choose, treadmills offer an array of aerobic exercise opportunities that will provide long-lasting beneficial cardiovascular results without a commute to the gym or a jog in the rain.

3 out of 5 stars Not Perfect, But Good for the Price!   September 29, 2008
Just like all other reviews; it was very heavy in the box. Make sure you place the box where you are going to set the machine.
Follow all instructions and it will take you about 30min to set up.
As far as the operation is concerned. I had the machine now for about 5 months. At the beginning it was smooth but after some time it begins to make an enoying noise every time you step while running, anywhere above 5.0MPH, or step away from the center of the belt. The heart rate monitor cannot be trusted, out of the box it never gave me an accurate reading.
The calorie count while working out is calculated, it never asks you for weight, age, so you can never get a close to reality calorie count.
The good of this machine, starting with price in comparison to other machines. Also the motor/frame warranty (also power) it is also very good when comparing to even more expensive machines.
Once assembled it is very easy to handle. It folds vertically but it does take some room.
In General this is a good machine if your work out will be for fast walking or slow jogging. I would not recommended if your are trying speeds above 6.0 MPH; the belts it's too narrow/short to be going this fast and the likelihood of an accident is high.

5 out of 5 stars Horizon Fitness T81 Treadmill   February 19, 2008

I have only owned this treadmill for three weeks, but so far I would have to say it is excellent for the price. It runs quite and smooth. All programs work fine. It folds up easily and takes up little space when folded. Also having a fan is a good feature. I would highly recommd this treadmill.

3 out of 5 stars Good luck getting ahold of someone.   January 14, 2008

This machine was well packaged. Instructions were very well explained and I put it together myself with no help and no problems.
I plugged it in an was ready to go. Everything seemed to work okay but the fan. It wouldn't do anything at first. It was late at night so I thought I would try the next day and call the manufacture if it still didn't work... I surely didn't want to tear it apart and take back to the store. It was very heavy and I had to have two guys carry it into my house for me.
Calling the manufacture is a nightmare. No one answers and after about 40 minutes on hold, I ran out of time and gave up. We called the store and they said they couldn't do anything, I would have to bring it back. So we started disassembling it and noticed that where the fan was, the screws had been removed and it looks like some grinding was done to the back panel also ~ clearly looks like it is a refurbished treadmill (that probably had a fan problem already). The box looked like it came directy from the manufacture. Sure would have been nice to talk to someone from the manufacture.
