About Treadmills Walking is still considered one of the most beneficial cardiovascular exercises for people of all ages, body types, and fitness levels. As a fundamental form of aerobic training, walking has numerous physical benefits for the heart, lungs, and circulatory system, while also increasing muscle tone and burning fat calories. Treadmills provide a convenient way to regularly exercise in all weather conditions in the comfort and safety of your own home. From beginners just starting an exercise regimen to advanced athletes looking to maintain their fitness level, anyone interested in getting and staying in shape can benefit greatly from regular use of a treadmill. Treadmills allow you to determine the pace, distance, and complexity of the workout based on your needs, all while watching television, talking on the telephone, or reading a magazine. Much easier on sensitive joints like the knees and hips, treadmill walking and running surfaces are typically long, padded platforms that allow ample room for a long stride and comfortable, low-impact walk or jog without the harsh contact of a concrete surface. While many different types, styles, and price ranges of treadmills exist, many of them offer unique features like a fold-up design for easy storage, an electronic display monitor showing speed, distance, workout time, incline level, and burned calories, and EKG grip pulses to monitor the heart rate while exercising. Regardless of the simple to complex features you may choose, treadmills offer an array of aerobic exercise opportunities that will provide long-lasting beneficial cardiovascular results without a commute to the gym or a jog in the rain. Perfect for what I need October 7, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have waited for atleast alittle over a month before I leave a review. Going on my 5th week now. I looked at many other models but ultimately went for price and reviews. I have been running 5 days a week on this machine. It is very simple to use as you can easily switch from time to distance, by a push of a button. I always vary my run with inclines and have been gradually increasing speed as I train. I do not notice any problems at all, this machine does what it needs to do. I at times use the fan, which has 3 settings I never had to go above 2, works well. I did buy a matt for the bottom, which is recommended. I have it set up in my room, which will be noisier than a gym when on it. I do turn on my tv and honestly am not bothered by it. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR and watch the VIDEO that is on the Horizon page with the treadmill and it is exactly what you will get. especially for the price, I got an etxra $100 off, so for $699 I am totally glad. I've been running in Ballys for years and also other gyms and must say this machine for a home only is definately a must have. Just remember to follow care intructions and make sure you always wax under belt to keep it in top shape!!!!!!
Still good after almost one year September 19, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We are only using the treadmill during the cold season because we have many opportunities to stay active when it's warm outside but, from October through May, we do 'something' physical in the basement. This was our second treadmill and it's been a good buy so far. We used it last winter and spring and we are looking forward to start a new season of treadmilling this coming fall.
Features that I liked include:
- powerful, quiet motor - comfortable walk-run surface for both width and length - reasonably good pre-programmed workouts - relatively easy to maintain - good support (not from India)
But, of course, there is always room for improvement:
- the computer and the display are quite antiquated, not enough information is displayed at once and you have to cycle through display modes to see what you want - the customized routines are quite inflexible and difficult to program - the handle-based pulse monitor doesn't always work or it sometimes takes it too long to pick up your heart rate - the cup holders: not practical, a gimmick - the headphones plug: never felt like trying it, not practical - the side screws you need to unscrew in order to dust off the motor look not so solid. They feel as if I'm going to have some trouble screwing them back after a dozen or so maintenance runs
Overall impression - solid, maintenance-light, a pleasure to use, a couple of annoying quirks don't spoil the fun and only manage to make me remove one star.

A quality treadmill at a good price. The pre-programmed settings are great, plus it has 2 custom programs so my husband and I can each have our own favorite workout ready to go. And, it wasn't even that hard to assemble!
poor quality and poor service June 2, 2008 2 out of 6 found this review helpful
Poor quality and poor service
I bought a Horizon treadmill in 2006 after thanksgiving sale. It was repaired many times. I never expect such expensive treadmill has such poor quality. The last service Horizon ordered for us was still during the warranty, but we could not get the technican to come to our house to repaire it. Later we found out the technican who repired our treadmill had left the company. When the new technican came, it was after the warranty. She found she need more parts to fix our treadmill including the motor and controller, not just the touching pad. But the Horizon is not willing to pay for the labor.

I just bought this treadmill and overall I do like it. Its comfortable, easy to use and is very quiet. Ultimatley those (and longevity which I can't really evaluate yet) are the most important factors to me.
I do, however, find the console clumsy. The speaker is attrocious and I can't use the audio jack as I get hiss through my headphones. The display does have the standard useful infomation: time, distance, calories burned (though there is no setting for weight or age which would give this an accurate reading). The display also does not toggle between time and distance automatically. All in all my complaints revolve around things that are of limited value to me personally, but those wishing for a treadmill with all the fancy bells and whistles should look elsewhere.
