About Treadmills
Walking is still considered one of the most beneficial cardiovascular exercises for people of all ages, body types, and fitness levels. As a fundamental form of aerobic training, walking has numerous physical benefits for the heart, lungs, and circulatory system, while also increasing muscle tone and burning fat calories. Treadmills provide a convenient way to regularly exercise in all weather conditions in the comfort and safety of your own home. From beginners just starting an exercise regimen to advanced athletes looking to maintain their fitness level, anyone interested in getting and staying in shape can benefit greatly from regular use of a treadmill. Treadmills allow you to determine the pace, distance, and complexity of the workout based on your needs, all while watching television, talking on the telephone, or reading a magazine. Much easier on sensitive joints like the knees and hips, treadmill walking and running surfaces are typically long, padded platforms that allow ample room for a long stride and comfortable, low-impact walk or jog without the harsh contact of a concrete surface. While many different types, styles, and price ranges of treadmills exist, many of them offer unique features like a fold-up design for easy storage, an electronic display monitor showing speed, distance, workout time, incline level, and burned calories, and EKG grip pulses to monitor the heart rate while exercising. Regardless of the simple to complex features you may choose, treadmills offer an array of aerobic exercise opportunities that will provide long-lasting beneficial cardiovascular results without a commute to the gym or a jog in the rain.

5 out of 5 stars Best Value for the Price   July 15, 2006

First, I've only owned this treadmill a short time so this review will NOT cover durability...I'll try to include an update as more time goes by.

About the treadmill. I wanted something that didn't cost a fortune since I wasn't sure if I'd really enjoy using a treadmmill on a regular basis...I'm more of an outdoor jogger/runner. I also needed something that could handle real running not just walking. This treadmill has a decent sized motor and decent sized running belt...not large on either but certainly stable and able to handle both my running and my husbands without hardship. The belt is tense, tight. There is NO skipping or other issues. The base is firm even when running.

Features: This doesn't have a lot of the bells and whistles of other models but what it does have is well designed, VERY convenient and easy to use/find. Also, I may add, I shopped locally before making a purchase and was a bit concerned as I could NOT find this unit locally. However, while trying out other treadmills around town [many which cost 4-5x's the cost of this one!] I was not pleased with the accessibility of the controls. Some machines had so much "junk" that it was nearly impossible to change controls while running. Others were so stripped they did nothing. This is a terrific unit in the features are ALL easy to use, VERY convenient and there isn't a lot of "fluff" features.

In addition to being very stable for a home treadmill [much more stable than others in it's price range], this has a slow start feature that I really appreciate. Many other treadmills require you to stand on the edges while the belt gets going [ridiculous!]. This treadmill give you a count down and then slowsly starts while you are standing in place and then works up to the speed indicated. The controls for faster/slower and up/down incline are located on the right and left hand grip [respectively]. There is still plenty of room on the hand grip for placing your hands where they will not interact with the buttons.

The EKG/Heart monitor is built into the front hand grip area...a nice feature in addition to the distance, speed, calories, etc that are pretty standard on most machines. There are five programs and three "quick set" speeds [walk, jog and run....3, 5 and 7 miles respectively]. There is also quick disconnect cord for safety and a VERY nice automatic folding feature that makes it easy to vac under [especially for anyone who may have lower back problems and who may not want to lift items...this does it for you at the touch of a button. You don't ever have to bend over!].

Other nice little touches are the built in book holder, it was very easy to assemble, shipping was FAST and EXCEPTIONAL [I couldn't say enough about how professional the shipping was. They called in advance to assure the time and location, it arrived just as stated, exceptional in every way!]. A warning...the box is VERY large but the unit was easy to assemble and it comes complete with all the required tools as well as the oil required for maintenance at a later date. The unit is relatively quiet...even when running. All in all, an impressive unit especially for the price. If this holds up for any decent length of time then it's a complete winner!

On the other hand, for those who want to feel like they are in the cockpit of a plane, this does NOT have the bells and whistles. No LCD monitor, NO stereo, Only five pre-set programs [but very functional], etc... On the other hand, if you want a very inexpensive machine that provides stable, quiet, easy and convenient controls for a real work out then this appears to be a great selection [remember, I've only had it a short time...I don't know the durability to date!].

So far-very impressive!
