easiest yet.... March 9, 2010 Sandi Fisher (The Villages, Florida, US) very good peice of equipment ... design and quality materials....am losing weight using it twice a day for just 10 minutes each time.
Awesome little product March 9, 2010 S. L. Boyer (Pennsylvania, USA) First of all, I don't know what one of the previous reviewers was talking about when she said the chain kept breaking - this product does not have a chain on it at all. There is a thick cable that goes around the pulley, but no chains. The cable looks solid and I have had no problem with it or any other part on my stepper.
Mine also does not squeak at all.
I used to do my own little workout program with a treadmill, stretching, and some other cardio work. But unfortunately I've been having a lot of problems with my knees and decided I needed an alternative to the treadmill (since the impact is terrible for joints), and I settled on this stepper. A CD is included with a 30-minute routine, half of which involves the stepper and the cords, and half of which only uses the cords for a full body workout. I feel great at the end of each use; better than I had when using the treadmill, and with no impact on my poor knees.
This product only has 2 or 3 simple steps for putting it together, and if you pop in the CD you'll be using it like a pro in no time. There is a 250 lb limit, and the steps are made of plastic with a metal frame behind them, but I don't see it being a problem if used properly and not stomped on. The little timer/counter came with a AAA battery and turns on automatically when you step on the machine and turns off after 4 minutes of no use. It tells you how many steps were taken, how many calories were burned, and how long you've been working out.
This is an awesome product for the price, and for anyone who wants a good cardio workout without harming their knees or using a ton of different equipment (or simply saving money by not having to join a gym).
Works well February 15, 2010 J. Mueller I've now used the mini-stepper for a handful of times and so far it performs as I expected it to. It's great for a good, quick workout in front of the TV. My only complaint is that the pedals do touch down to the base once the stepper is warmed up (consequently creating a small stepping noise), but it doesn't impact the functionality of the unit. The first time I used it, it took a little while to get used to balancing on the unit, but it was easy enough. I've used the pull straps occasionally for an extra workout and so far they work fine.
Don't waste your money February 15, 2010 Colleen T. ODea 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was hopeful this would be a good device to replace a stepper I previously owned that broke.
This stepper appears to be well made and sturdy. The exercise bands it comes with would be useful as bands.
BUT the negatives overwhelm those couple of positives.
You cannot set the tension on this. The angle at which your foot is pointed at the highest step seemed to be higher than 45 degrees. This leads to either pain in the toes that are pushed against the front of the step or to a very awkward stance as I tried to keep my feet back so my toes wouldn't get squished. Of course, my feet slid down anyway, due to the angle. As some other reviewers have said (I should have listened to them), it is very difficult to keep balanced on the stepper because of the steep angle, so forget about trying to use the bands to make the workout harder. It's all I could do to stay on it (and I exercise nearly daily and have for the last 5 years). You can't step all the way to the bottom with one foot because then your other foot is up at that high angle, so you have to try to keep your steps in the middle, which is OK when concentrating. But try to read while doing it and forget it. Again, you lose your balance.
As a result of all these negatives, I pulled a sciatic muscle and still have back pain three days later.
I would send it back but it's so heavy the shipping would cost a lot so I donated it to a Tricky Tray instead. A hefty donation. And I still have to try to find something that works.
Excellent work out excellent value! February 10, 2010 Courtney Perram This stepper is awesome. It has been my first purchase of equipment of this kind. It does take a coordinated person to use this. I have worked out with it every day since I have had it. It is light weight, durable. I am able to watch TV and work out. Its the best purchase I have done thus far.
