Add in a speed range of 0.5 to 12 miles per hour, an elevation range of 0 to 12 percent, and ComfortZone air cell cushioning and you have a powerful, comfortable treadmill that excels in any environment.

Other details include contact heart rate grips, built-in Vortex cooling fans, an MP3 port with speakers and audio in/out jacks, and a 20-by-55-inch running area.

About Treadmills
Walking is still considered one of the most beneficial cardiovascular exercises for people of all ages, body types, and fitness levels. As a fundamental form of aerobic training, walking has numerous physical benefits for the heart, lungs, and circulatory system, while also increasing muscle tone and burning fat calories. Treadmills provide a convenient way to regularly exercise in all weather conditions in the comfort and safety of your own home.

From beginners just starting an exercise regimen to advanced athletes looking to maintain their fitness level, anyone interested in getting and staying in shape can benefit greatly from regular use of a treadmill. Treadmills allow you to determine the pace, distance, and complexity of the workout based on your needs, all while watching television, talking on the telephone, or reading a magazine. Much easier on sensitive joints like the knees and hips, treadmill walking and running surfaces are typically long, padded platforms that allow ample room for a long stride and comfortable, low-impact walk or jog without the harsh contact of a concrete surface.

While many different types, styles, and price ranges of treadmills exist, many of them offer unique features like a fold-up design for easy storage, an electronic display monitor showing speed, distance, workout time, incline level, and burned calories, and EKG grip pulses to monitor the heart rate while exercising. Regardless of the simple to complex features you may choose, treadmills offer an array of aerobic exercise opportunities that will provide long-lasting beneficial cardiovascular results without a commute to the gym or a jog in the rain.

5 out of 5 stars LOVE IT! LOVE IT! LOVE IT!   August 27, 2008
I received my treadmill about 2 weeks ago and I am extremely happy that I made this purchase. Besides the great financing deal and $100 off the price, this treadmill is a HUGE step up from my old one. It has many different workouts and levels within those workouts that I don't think I will ever get bored with this machine. The motor is quiet (you only have to turn the volume up on the TV a bit), it runs smooth, it does feel as it has more "spring" than my older (10 year-old) treadmill. I only had one minor problem when I received my machine; the support bar was missing (not a crucial part, I was still able to use it without it), but Horizan customer service was great and got the part out to me within the week. Also, be aware, this machine is HEAVY, have the delivery driver put it in the room you want to use it in, as once you open the box, it is not smart to move it to a new location (the walking board can actually spring up and cause injury). I had to give the drive a tip to do this for me, but it was WELL worth it. Keeping that in mind, the larger pieces of the machine are heavy as well. Although I put the machine together myself (it took me about 3 hours), a helping hand will make it go a lot faster.

I have used this treadmill at least 10 times now, and after adjusting the belt tension, it has been smooth sailing since. I highly recommend this machine, so much that my co-worker is buying the exact same one!

4 out of 5 stars Very Nice Treadmill ~ Some Quirks Though   August 27, 2008
We have only just barely started using this, so I may need to update the review as time goes by. I am impressed by the number of options this treadmill offered. That really helps with avoiding workout boredom. We also like that you can hook up your MP3 player to it and play whatever music you want instead of having to try and work with a CD player that you know won't play what you want as long as you want. The belt is wide and has good traction and you do feel like you are well cushioned. I love how strong the motor is. The treadmill is also really very light to lift back up into place.

What I don't love? In order to turn it off you have to reach down behind the entire machine in back of the supports on the bottom to a hidden button. There is no other way. Otherwise it's always on. Most machines you can pull the little magnetic plug or something like that. Nope, not with this guy. You have to make sure you have some clearance on the left hand side so you can get in there. Also, it has to be further away from the wall than my other machines because when you try to fold it back up it pushes back into the wall.

5 out of 5 stars Impressive and a must buy!   November 25, 2007

I am truly impressed with this treadmill! I didn't think it would be as nice as it is. It is better than most health club treadmills. It is very heavy so put it in the room where you want to leave it. It took me an hour to put it together by myself (I'm female, 36 and 5'6") and the instructions were so easy to follow. Some of the screws do not fit to well, but you have to play around with them to get them in completely.

I was also looking at the Bowflex and quite a few other name brands. My cousin who is a personal trainer was recommending $3000 to $5000 treadmills and I just couldn't justify spnding that much for a home treadmill that only I was going to use. A friend of mine has a cheaper Horizon and she is very pleased with it. The Horizon T83 is sturdy and does not shake, even running on it. It is solid and well built. The thing that was most important to me was that there are ALOT of programs so you won't get bored with only a few. It does have a ipod hook up and speakers included on the main board. The fan is cheesy and I can't understand why they didn't make one with different speeds, this one blasts you away. I bought a clip-on fan to use.

For $999 and I also got free shipping, it made the Horizon T83 look even better. (And with inside delivery included). I was worried that I wouldn't like it and shipping it back was such a hassle. But I was wrong! Everything works beautifully on it and I look forward to MANY YEARS of enjoyment on it when it's cold outside.

Buy this treadmill and you won't be disappointed.

4 out of 5 stars You'll like it   November 2, 2007

I have been using this treadmill for 1 month so far. Every 2 days. I had another TM before, it had a fancy console and tv integration but I had to return it because was faulty. This time I checked everything, and every time I was using my new toy.

That's what I like:
It's very light, you can install it alone, quite easily. Except for the console that may require a friend that holds it while you tight the console to the frame.

I'm a geek but I appreciate easy things. It is easy to use, it has all the essential programs and the software responds very well while you're on the go (changing speed, inclination...)

Clean the console is also easy.
Once installed at first it looks like the Enterprise space ship

Packaging and installation were just great. Super easy instructions, bags well labeled. Great tools, they even provide a quality screw driver. I was totally impressed by that. That's shows how much they care!

Warranty: life time on frame and motor

What I can live with but I don't like:
The say they have improved speakers with this model. Eh Eh so the one used before were a super joke :-) -- They aren't power enough and the worst part is that they cut some audio frequencies too. So if you're an iPod user not all songs will play well. Some instruments are just cut off. Too bad, because while you run, you want to be motivated by you music.

If you run faster than 7mph and your floor is carpet the all structure shakes too much. At 9mph it looks like it is almost flying. The frame has been well designed, so it doesn't break :-)
but it gives you the impression that you're on a roller cost though.

Delivery was ok, it arrived a few days early than expected, but I believe that is a nice marketing technique though. They give the worst date when you buy and then they delivery as they would expect :-)

My buying factor was their price & the iPOD input. I'm still happy for the money that I have invested and for the final result. With better speakers they would get 5 stars from me.
