The bike is equipped with such features as a motorized tension control system that lets you easily adjust the resistance level during your workout, built-in hand pulse sensors for monitoring your heart rate, and ergonomic handlebars that offer multiple gripping areas and increased comfort. The integrated display, meanwhile, tracks such information as time, distance, speed, RPMs, scan, and calories burned, making it easy to measure your progress and meet (or exceed) your fitness goals. Other details include an adjustable molded seat back for comfort and oversized pedals with one-touch adjustable straps. The Edge 288, which offers a weight capacity of 250 pounds, measures 24.25 by 39.5 by 58 inches (W x H x D) and weighs 77 pounds. About Recumbent Exercise Bikes Despite the competition from trendy new fitness inventions, exercise bikes continue to be popular options for home exercise. They offer the same aerobic benefits of riding a bicycle at any time, in any weather, without leaving the comfort and safety of home. Exercise bikes don't take up much space, require little or no balance or coordination, and can provide an effective workout for all levels of users, from beginners to serious competitors. While the same could be said for a number of other types of home fitness equipment, the exercise bike is one of the few that allows you to watch television or read a magazine while you work out. The term recumbent literally means "lying down." Exercising in a recumbent or reclining position allows the user to have full ergonomic back support, without causing strain on the arms, neck and shoulders, all of which can be common effects of using an upright bicycle. For many people, having convenient access to quality exercise equipment is critical to sticking with a long-term exercise program.

Great bike September 1, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I love this bike. Great price, sturdy and simply just works. The only thing that could make it better would be if you could program in your target heart rate zone and if it would alert you if you went outside that zone. Other than that this is a great buy for the money.
Great value August 18, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
For an inexpensive bike, this is a great value. It has many nice features and the seat is very comfortable and adjusts well. Provides a good workout for beginners and those ready for challenge.
Excellent Excercise Bike @ This Price August 7, 2008 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
For the money you are going to be hard pressed to find a better recumbent exercise bike. The unit is solid and sturdy. Very well balanced on it's four feet. Adjusting from position to position so that users of varying heights can all be comfortable is a snap...unscrew a pin with a large plastic handle, slide the rear assembly in or out, screw the pin back down. I've seen some spec sheets saying this unit has a built in fan...not so. The display, however, is large and easy to read. It also runs off AC power, a nice feature. An added plus is the ease of assembly and the very quiet operation. I can't recommend this unit enough. My research and use tells me that you are going to need to spend double or triple this amount to find a noticeably better bike. And as for durability...my wife and I alternate use on this almost daily and it's holding up just fine.
