Product Description
Enjoy all the benefits of gym-style vertical design and quality for serious workouts with this durable steel Bowflex Xtreme SE Home Gym featuring a compact size, so it fits smaller workout spaces. The Bowflex Power Rod units give you 210 lbs of resistance, or weight, that feels as good as or better than free weights but without the inertia or risk of joint pain usually associated with free weights.

Amazon.com Product Description
Whether you're tired of investing in a monthly gym membership or you just like the convenience of working out in the home, the Bowflex Xtreme SE home gym is a must-have for serious workout enthusiasts. The Xtreme SE lets you perform more than 65 gym-quality exercises, including exercises for the chest, shoulder, back, arms, abdominals, and legs--in short, everything you need to improve strength, tone, or bulk up. Resistance derives from the 210 pounds of Power Rod units, which feel as good or better than free weights but without the latter's inertia or risk of joint pain. If that's not enough resistance, you can also upgrade the Xtreme SE to 310 or 410 pounds.

The Xtreme SE is outfitted with a number of workout stations, including a lat tower with an angled lat bar for building back and shoulder muscles; an abdominal crunch shoulder harness; a three-position lower pulley/squat station for building your glutes, hamstrings, and quads; and a leg extension/curl attachment. And dedicated lifters will dig the adjustable cable and pulley system, which lets you change your resistance angle to target exercises more efficiently to certain muscle groups. Other details include five-way handgrip and ankle cuffs, an ergonomic adjustable seat with a polyurethane cushion, and a reinforced X-shaped base for maximum stability. The Xtreme SE measures 49 by 81 by 62 inches (W x H x D) and carries a seven-year limited warranty.

The Xtreme SE offers an ergonomic adjustable seat with a polyurethane cushion for added back support while exercising.

Bowflex machines are warranted to the original purchaser. Bowflex home gyms limited warranties cover all defects in material or workmanship but do not cover commercial use or misuse by the consumer. About Home Gyms
While offering the convenience of working out in the comfort and privacy of your own home, home gyms also allow you to focus on specific routines without having to wait in line or switch between a complex array of machines. In addition to improving strength, power, coordination, and muscular endurance, weight training can enhance weight reduction, enhance the immune and cardiovascular systems, and help prevent injuries. In general, home gym machines are compact units designed to strengthen and exercise many parts of the body. While no single home gym can provide a complete strength training solution, they are a convenient way to combine many exercises into a single unit. Some home gyms focus exclusively on upper-body workouts, while other, more advanced units focus on upper- and lower-body conditioning.

4 out of 5 stars Nice equipment...a bit pricey   June 17, 2008
Good, sturdy and well built. The bowflex will give you a good workout although expect that you will need to add additional rods eventually for the leg extensions. Overall a bit pricey, but after using it for 3 months I would still buy it if I had to do it all over again.

5 out of 5 stars An excellent machine for smaller work out spaces.   June 7, 2008
An excellent machine. I am short on space so this fit great into the second bedroom next to the treadmill. It will give you a great work out. I am seeing a difference after 3 weeks of use( I am half way threw their 6 week start up program). I plan on enjoying this bowflex for years to come and am happy that is is upgradable.

4 out of 5 stars Bowflex Xtreme SE   May 26, 2008
I am really impressed with this sysytem. I ordered the item and it arrived early. It did not take long to assemble, but I recommend following the easy to follow instruction for assembly. I am able to do all the workouts as I did with my prior Gold's Power Gym. There are no resistance bands and no lever to move and I was unable to get parts for the prior gym. I have used it for 4 weeks and really enjoy the workouts. I feel the difference between the two. Easy to switch between different exercises. Highly recommend the BowFlex Gym......

3 out of 5 stars a bit of a hassle   May 25, 2008
the machine is well built and offers lots of options however, the DVD does not help someone unfamiliar with the machine. It shows tons of exercises but assumes you know how to set the cables, etc. Wish there was a how to DVD that demonstrates everything you need to know from day one. Secondly, a piece was broken, I called the company directly, sent them my receipt and have never heard back as promised. So a hassle, ball is in my court to call them again....

5 out of 5 stars Best Home Gym Ever   May 23, 2008
Ok, I was fat (50 lbs. overweight). I started running and dieting, but then I remembered what it felt like when I was young (mid 20s) to lift weights. Cardio is great, but you have to do strength training as well, if you want to lose weight effectively. Now, the weights I used before were free weights, which are heavy to move around and not too safe when you are lifting by yourself (unless the thought of instant plastic surgery is appealing to you). Researching various gyms meeting my criteria (lightweight, not taking a lot of room, one-person use, not silly Chuck Norris marketed garbage), led me to the Bowflex SE Home Gym. I purchased one and, for an old fart, I am pretty buff now. Grant it, I'll never be a young Schwarzenegger as I don't have the genes, but I am extremely satisfied with this purchase and it has my full recommendation.
