What's in the Box? TransFIRMer, three full-length DVDs, the Firm Results Program Guide About The Firm It all began in 1979 when The Firm Studio opened in South Carolina. By combining cardio and weight training, The Firm recognized that people could burn fat, build muscle, and get the bodies they wanted safely, effectively, and quickly. This cardio-plus-body-sculpting fitness hybrid--called Synergy Training--formed the basis for The Firm method then and is still central to The Firm philosophy today. It didn't take long for fitness enthusiasts to catch on, and The Firm was off and running. When The Firm decided to share their successful method with people who were unable to travel to the Studio, the at-home workout series was born. The Firm received glowing reviews and top professional awards from the very start. Since then, The Firm has sold more than ten million workouts. Today, The Firm mission is to continue researching and creating superior fitness techniques and products for reshaping and toning the body.

Real results...especially lower body September 1, 2008 I admit I was skeptical...so I took before and after pictures to see if I could see a difference after 10 workouts. Before I got to the 6th or 7th workout, I could feel that the front of my thighs and my glutes were tighter and the roll developing around the back side of my hips was shrinking. Today I took pix of post-10 workout, and although I didn't get "Jillian's abs", I can honestly say I see a difference. My backside looks better, as does my waist and belly. The front of my thighs look tighter, too. My belly and waist were my biggest concern to start with, so I made sure to do one of The Firm's cardio workouts every other day. And it was enough of a difference that I will continue to use The Firm - have even started buying more of their videos to vary my rotation.
PROS: *workouts focus on core, including hips, thighs and buttocks *the "Transfirmer" is VERY effective in working the thighs and rear *relatively easy to follow and pick up the moves *can add more weight as you need to, to improve results *intervals during work-outs similar to the newest research on high intensity interval training (HIIT) which helps burn fat with the greatest results *both Aerobic Body Shaping and Supercharged Sculpting have good cueing from the instructors
CONS: *lower focus on upper body - they do upper body, but this set of videos seems to be better for lower than upper (this is the only reason I gave it four out of five stars) *the Ultimate Calorie Blaster is hard to follow with difficult cueing
I started purchasing more of The Firm cardio/aerobic dvds and now am looking at buying more of the toning-focused dvds in hopes of improving my upper body. It's great that The Firm has so many videos to choose from so that you can have variety and your muscles don't get too accustomed to any one work out. Although it can be a bit overwhelming for a Firm novice to know which dvds to start with (I'd say this is a good set to start with...especially because you get the step which you can use in other routines). Still, if you really want a "tough" body, you'll probably have to step up to a tougher routine, but this is great to get in shape and toned up.
Need to purchase weights June 14, 2008 For this workout you need to purchase a whole set of weights (is that written on the box somewhere?). I have some three lbs weights and that is all that I use for now. The first work out is fairly doable and you can follow ok even as a beginner. The other two are much more difficult. The steps are a little bulky and I have to pause it in order to be able to move them around or get them out of the way. On the positive side the workout is effective, but there are other workouts that are just as good and don't require all this equipment (I like yoga booty ballet). In spite on the negatives I give it four stars because the workout does what it says it does and you will see results.
Kick my [...] work out - It is the best May 27, 2008 If you really want a great body, then this is what you want. I lost 140 pounds and look like I did 10 ears ago in high school. It is the best workout, easy to use, and fun.
Love the FIRM!! May 11, 2008 I am an experienced FIRMer. This newer system is great! I love the variability of the steps. Its a fantastic workout. If you've never done any step workouts before you might find it a little intimidating at first. It may take a few tries to get comfortable with the moves....but when you do its fun and challenging. The FIRM is fantastic for their combination of low-impact aerobics, step and light weights that you can do in the comfort of your own home. It WILL change your body!
Love the transfirmer! April 24, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I really love this workout set from the Firm. I think the transfirmer is a very creative and effective step system. I love the incline position and can do lunges better and easier using the transfirmer. It also makes the cardio step segments a little differnt and more interesting than just using a step in the regular position. I like how each workout included with this set is differnt ranging from a scultping workout at about 30 minutes, to a mostly cardio workout with very little light weights at about 45 minutes, and then a total body workout with cardio and weights at about 50 minutes. I truely love the Firm and it has been the thing that got me exercising and kept me sticking with it. I find the Firm fun, motivating, and efficient. I am however a bit disappointed in the newer Firms that have come out and don't find them challenging enough especially compared with this transfirmer system, the fanny lifter systems as well as the tough 90's Firm workouts. I am converting over to Cathe for more of a challenge and have the Firm to thank for getting me to place where I can attempt her workouts. Cathe has some of the funnest step routines I have ever seen and the best workout music I have ever heard (I have done a lot of research). However, I know that I will still use the firm for lighter workout days or just to have a change of pace because I love the Firm. Get this system- I don't think you will be disappointed!
