Comes in handy when watching the game November 4, 2008 This is the annual revision of the rules, due out this month (Nov. 08).
I like having a hard-copy of the rules in the family room. When a complicated call gets kicked upstairs to the booth, or there's a discussion as to whether a rule should apply, it's nice to have the actual rule on hand to see for yourself.
Having the book around for flipping through as a refresher here and there doesn't hurt either. Some details, like the number of men on the ice for regular-season overtime in certain penalty situations, can make your head spin. If you don't have a reference handy (or a better memory than mine), you'll never get it right.
The Triumph Books version of the rulebook is compact and limited to the rules content itself. No fluff. Cheap, too.
