Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The Stamina Electronic Mini-stepper will get you on the road to good health and fitness. Stair climbing continues to be one of the most well known and beneficial exercises because it exercises and tones the largest muscles in the body (buttocks, hips, and thighs), plus it's a great fat-burning workout. It's also a great cardiovascular exercise. This stepper has a small, compact design that makes it perfect for home or office. The sturdy steel construction is durable, and this stepper features a counter and timer display.

About Stair Steppers
Stair steppers continue to be popular options for home exercise. They offer the same benefits as running stairs, but with the "any time, in any weather, without having to leave the comfort and safety of your home" added convenience. Stair steppers don't take up much space, require moderate balance and coordination, and can provide an effective work-out for all levels of users, from beginners to serious competitors.

Following on the heels of treadmills and exercise bikes, stair steppers took their first step towards fitness machine success in the early 1980s. Like most exercise equipment, stair steppers have come a long way technically speaking. Advanced computers on most newer models allow users to track their vitals at a glance. However, the most important benefits of stair steppers are still the basic ways they provide excellent cardiovascular workouts that get the heart pounding, along with the impact the exercise has on muscle tone in the legs, thighs and buttocks. Stair steppers continue to offer an exercise that is less jarring than treadmills, but more intense than elliptical trainers.

5 out of 5 stars I love it!   August 26, 2008
I've only had this for about a month and i'm enjoying it so far. the only exericise i get is walking where i have to go. yes, the machine started squeaking within a wee. most of the time i'm listening to music so i dont much hear it. i think the squeaking is still worth. something i also like about this is that you actually feel it working. i'm only doing 215 steps for now but i feel better physically.

1 out of 5 stars Don't buy this product   August 25, 2008
I bought this stepper, and within three months the cable broke. Customer Service informed me they would send me a replacement that Friday. It's been three Friday's, and now they tell me the cable will be shipped out either on Friday or next week.

4 out of 5 stars Great Buy   August 7, 2008
I received this product quickly and I assembled it in 1 minute. It works great! It's easy to move around and it doesn't take up alot of space. Like other reviews say, it does squeek once you start using it for a couple of minutes. But it's not that loud and i don't even notice it after a few minutes. Also it is pretty stiff for the first 20 steps or so everytime you use it. It seems it has to warm up. But i have absolutly no problem with that. I think this product was a great buy!

1 out of 5 stars Bad purchase.   August 6, 2008

While the Stamina Stepper looks like a great product for someone who has a lack of space for exercise equipment, the product is seriously flawed. Don't bother paying extra for the toning bands; the piece that affixes the bands to the stepper is made of plastic and will break. If you're lucky they won't put out an eye or a tooth (I was lucky). However, if anyone is standing nearby, they could easily get popped(they did). Also, the squeaking is extremely loud and annoying.

The Stamina "mini-stepper" is not made to be used more than 3 times per week, as stated by the company officials (this was repeated to me on more than one occasion). Since I bought this equipment to use on a daily basis (6-7x per week), I found the shock absorbers leaking after one months usage. The company was kind enough to replace the shocks at no charge THE FIRST TWO TIMES, but when the third set leaked within 6 months of ownership, the company said they would not send anymore complimentary shocks.

Maybe I should be more grateful that they replaced 3 sets of shocks, but for some reason I don't think exercise equipment should break down 3 times within 6 months. The company also doesn't feel obliged to replace or refund my money since I purchased my stepper through Amazon.com. Also, I returned a pair of the leaking shocks to the company in hopes they would find another, better replacement, and I've been waiting almost two months (several emails) for a response.

Oh, and the third set of shocks not only leaked oil (as did the first two sets) but they also began smoking. You'll know if your shocks are going to leak if you begin emitting a gassy smell; the smell is very obvious and noxious.

If you do happen to purchase this equipment, be sure to use it on something that is disposable. I ruined my carpeting even after placing the unit on a piece of cardboard, the oil soaked in before I noticed it was leaking.

I do not recommend this piece of equipment. I spent a total of $85 (shipping included) for a piece of exercise equipment I am not able to use after six months, and the company will no longer respond to my requests for help.

Oh, and the squeak is terrible!

1 out of 5 stars Cable breaks, product does not stand up   August 3, 2008

I'm highly dissapointed by this product.

I like stepping a lot, and do it for a while when I play guitar hero. The moment I stepped on this product I was confused. The natural angle that your feet rest at is tilted towards the front of the stepper. I had to prop the entire device up to compensate. Other steppers I've had from two separate brands did not require such odd measures. It seems to me like they never tested their product for actual use.

Even worse...

I purchased two of these at the same time, knowing that I'll burn out the piston aspect of it like I always do other products. That should be the weak link, and I have simply come to expect it. However, another part has been breaking on me -- the cable that hooks into the pully.

I purchased two of these expecting one to serve as a repository for replacement parts. Sadly, I've burned through two cables and have to either get more, or replace the device with something that can stand up to a bit more use. The cables begin failing by fraying from one of the metal attachments that hook into the frame of the stepper -- they make a loud noise that is seemingly inexplicable, until you blow through the final strands that hold everything together.

This represents my third and fourth steppers owned since I started stepping two years ago. The single thing about these that is superior to others that i've used -- they are very quiet. I'll be purchasing another stepper today, but not this one.
