Careful!!!!!! August 10, 2007 These are not toys. They come quite pointed and sharp enough to cut. A child or carelss adult could easily hurt themself or another.
This is a bit of a rip-off! Certainly NOT as pictured... July 31, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I looked around the web for these knives, and I bought them from this seller because he offered the lowest price. What I received was not what is shown in the picture.
Yes, I did receive two knives and a stand, but they are only "similar" to what is advertised in the promo picture. The knife handles are significantly shorter than pictured, and curved in such a way as to make them very uncomfortable to hold. Because the handles are so short, much shorter than in the promo picture, your hand curls around the bottom in a bad way.
In the pic it looks like there are slight finger grooves in the handle to give you a better grip, on these knives there is nothing like that. In the promo picture the four holes in the blade vary in size from small to large, these holes are all the same size on this knife.
In the picture, it looks like the blade edge is ground up to a certain point and then stopped. Not so on this specimen, the blade edge is ground all the way up to the first spike. The first three inches of the blade has a different sweep to it also, on both blades, making it a bit thinner and more fragile.
One Riddick blade is almost 1/2-inch longer than the other. The handle is covered with some crappy material that looks like it was secured by a spot of hot-melt glue. The two good points are that both knives were very sharp, and the wooden stand is in good shape.
I am not too angry over all this because I plan on cutting these knives up to make templates for a new knife design I am working on, but it is disappointing that an Amazon retailer would foist bad products off onto his customers like this.
You've been warned, so buy these items at your own risk. I wish I wouldn't have bought them now, because there are better quality Riddick-style knives out there.
