About Exercise Bikes
Despite the competition from trendy new fitness inventions, exercise bikes continue to be popular options for home exercise. They offer the same aerobic benefits of riding a bicycle at any time, in any weather, without leaving the comfort and safety of home. Exercise bikes don't take up much space, require little or no balance or coordination, and can provide an effective workout for all levels of users, from beginners to serious competitors. While the same could be said for a number of other types of home fitness equipment, the exercise bike is one of the few that allows you to watch television or read a magazine while you work out. For many people, having convenient access to quality exercise equipment is critical to sticking with a long-term exercise program.

4 out of 5 stars Marcy bike   November 27, 2008
The bike is very quiet, sturdy and has good resistance. I never rode an exercise bike before (or any other bike) and I found out that I'm able to use only low levels of resistance. Everything that's higher then 3 fills out of reach. So, there's a room to grow if you're a beginner. It was pretty hard to assemble. I used advice given in one of the reviews to loosen one of the nuts on the cable, it helped a lot. If not for this difficult assembly, I would have given it 5 stars.
Overall, it's a good buy for the money.

5 out of 5 stars I am impressed.   November 27, 2008
This bike is very sturdy. I'm going on 6 foot 1 and even with a few more inches or pounds I would be able to fit on and ride this bike. It goes down low so short people shouldn't have a problem either. The price went down right after I ordered it and Amazon refunded the difference. Great service. I also think it is very quiet. The computer isn't much to look at being from the iPod or even CD generation, and that is the only thing about it I found to dislike, maybe will grow on me. Still gets 5 stars for being so nice and inexpensive.

5 out of 5 stars Great Little Workout!   November 23, 2008
I got this bike for my wife due to a recurring running injury that laid her out for the second time this year. I should add that she also has a gym quality very expensive Stairmaster and a Concept 2 rowing machine. Her injury was such that she even had trouble on the Stairmaster. Hence, the Marcy bike sounded like the next logical piece of equipment. She loves it, and uses it about 6 days a week for anywhere from 20-45 minutes a a time. It's smooth and very quiet and gives a great workout. I was so impressed I started using it too. I use it about 5 times per week. This bike really delivers. Highly recommend. Not alot of bells and whistles but no-nonsense and dependable.

3 out of 5 stars Minimal Bike, Maximum Resistance Too Low   November 18, 2008
I've owned a number of exercise bikes over the past 20 years. All the bikes I have owned during the past 12 years have had much more advanced consoles than the Marcy bike - for example, they allowed you to set a timer, had pulse-reading fuctions (even the real cheap ones under $200), etc. I had no problem assembling the bike (or disassembling it for return for that matter). The main reason I returned the bike was the low maximum resistance offered.

This is a pretty basic bike. If you are just beginning, I'm sure this bike will be fine for awhile.

1 out of 5 stars not so cheap rubbish   October 25, 2008
A lesson learned: cheap is the new expensive... it lasted less than a week before one of the pedals got stuck and had to be hammered out, damaging the screw thread in the process.... now I am left with the quandry.... just throw the whole thing in the dumpster where it belongs or try to get a spare part and fix it....
