Amazon.com Product Description The ideal choice for people on the go, the GustBuster Metro umbrella keeps you dry wherever you roam. The Metro is distinguished by its carrying sheath, which doubles as a backpack or shoulder sling. As a result, you can easily carry this umbrella when it's dry out while also holding a briefcase and cup of coffee. The Metro measures 22 inches long when open and 16 inches folded, with an award-winning 43-inch double-canopy design that's large enough to accommodate two people. The patented temper-hardened steel joint connectors, hexagonal hardened-steel ribs, and reinforced shaft, meanwhile, hold up to heavy use and are built to resist crimping and snapping. And should you not want to carry the Metro via the sheath, it fits easily in a purse or briefcase. Other details include a sure-grip comfort handle, a pinchless open and close release system, and a sleek design. Wind-tested by the College of Aeronautics to 55 miles per hour, the Metro carries a lifetime warranty.

great umbrella November 19, 2008 Seems well constructed. It stood the test in a 20 mph wind. I think it will hold up to the strong winds off Lake Erie.
Gustbuster Metro NOT 43" diameter November 13, 2008 Just received my gustbuster metro 43 and upon opening the umbrella I was a little surprised at how small it seemed (I was replacing a large 49" diameter totes). The metro measures 32" in diameter. Upon calling Gustbuster I found out their formula for size is something like the collapsed ribs times two which I supposed is the measurement from the expanded umbrella tip to tip over the top arc. A little misleading to the novice. Anyway, other than being small, the umbrella seems sturdy and well made. Just don't expect large coverage.
Dry in the soggy Northwest November 2, 2008 This is the second Gustbuster umbrella I have purchased. I originally purchased the 48" umbrella, but discovered I also needed one that could fit in my backpack. I have abused a multitude of umbrellas over the years in such windy locations as Colorado, the Texas Gulf Coast, Vermont, and the Northwest. All of them have succumbed to the wind, rain and generally abuse. The Gustbuster umbrellas, however, have held up to all the trauma I and my children have put them through. The decorative feral on the end of the 48" did break off, but it has not affected the umbrella in any real sense. The 43" metro fits in a backpack, but will not fit in a most purses. It does include a strap for carrying. These are attractive and sturdy umbrellas, well worth the cost.
Vented Compact Umbrella October 30, 2008 The umbrella is the perfect size for walking around the city. The umbrella sleeve is designed to be carried like a pocket book (over the shoulder). So far we've only had normal rainfall (and I stayed reasonably dry). I'm still waiting for that blustery rainy day where I can see how it stands up in a high wind.

A great umbrella that stands up to the various elements in the northeast and performs better than most!
