Everything it is claimed September 1, 2008 Easy to follow directions, easy to install on bike, though I did need to order the longer cable to fit my SWB recumbent, and everything worked as promised from the get go. I followed directions for measuring the circumference of my front tire; measuring twice and averaging and it appears to be 98-99% accurate based on mileage markers along the road/path. Easy to read display, easy to move through the various modes with cold weather gloves on. I haven't owned it long enough to judge longevity, but I'm pleased with the performance. Got a great price from Amazon.com and had it within the promised time frame.
Great for the price August 29, 2008 I use it for time and distance, don't really use it for temp. But it seems to work very well for what I use it for. I am just a casual bike enthusiast so it is perfect for my usage.
Great Buy August 29, 2008 I got this cyclocomputer to replace my Schwin 17-function computer. The Schwin was ok, especially for the price, but this computer is so much more user friendly. It has a simple one button control and you can easily reset the tripodometer. With the Schwin, I had to completely reconfigure the unit to reset the tripodometer.
I was a little worried about one reviewer that had problems with rain. I took the computer out last night and rode 28 miles in misty/drizzle conditions. It wasn't a full-on rain, but the computer worked flawlessly. Another really nice feature is that the trip timer stops when you're speed goes to 0.0 (so you know your actual ride time).
Also, the magnet that came with the Schwin was so weak, the sensor had to be shimmed to within 1 mm of the magnet. The Planet Bike magnet is much stronger; I have the sensor about 1/4" from the magnet and it works without fail. This is a great product and is extremely easy to use.
Great computer August 28, 2008 It does what it's supposed to. However, I would have liked it to have a backlight of some sort. In darkness / at night you can't see a thing but it's not the product's fault; I was aware of this limitation when I purchased it. Also, a small minus would be the setup buttons which are a bit hard to press but once you get past the initial setup hopefully you won't have to change the main settings too often.
A Good Buy August 22, 2008 I've been using this for a couple weeks now, put on over 100 miles already. I've found it's almost addicting now watching how many miles I've gone and how fast I can go. As far as the hardware goes, I haven't had any problems yet. The screen is clear and easy to read in all conditions but night riding. I also like that in sleep mode, it doubles as a clock. I read some reviews that say it resets itself too fast, but I haven't found that to be the case. I timed it and it takes just under 2 seconds to reset while you're holding the button. I feel this is plenty of time. The only issue is that if I put it in my pocket, it can easily get reset. It has a temperature probe built in, but it is only accurate to 5F increments, which makes it as accurate as the morning weather. Installation was simple. I really like that the computer itself is removable from the holder it sits in. I typically take it off at night, but I forgot once while it was raining and it got wet, but didn't seem to affect it at all. I've also dropped it several times and it's fine every time. I'm very satisfied with this computer and am glad I didn't try to spend more for something that wouldn't have been any better.
